The Gold Trail

The Road was built by slaves between the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries, from tracks created by the Guaianazes Indians. The Gold Road in Paraty, is well preserved and it is surrounded by the exuberance of the Atlantic Forest of the Serra da Bocaina National Park.

An obligatory point of passage in the past, the road linking Minas Gerais to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo States. In the times called “Golden Cycle”, Paraty exercised Commercial warehouse function. Also by its geographical location, outlet port of the Mining gold production to Portugal . It was one of the most important port cities of the eighteenth century.
